Contact details.Q. Have you got a telephone number.
A. No. We are an online organisation. If you need to contact us you can use the email address which is info@fedecat-uk.com or the Facebook page message button. Both ways will get to us in real time and will be answered during office hours. Creation of Fedecat-UKQ. Why was Fedecat-UK set up?
A. Fedecat-UK was set up by shooters for shooters. These shooters had one thing in common – they liked the disciplines that have been developed by the World Body called CM FEDECAT (Spain) and they wanted to compete internationally in these disciplines. In order to do that they were required to set up a Federation which is the sole UK affiliated member of CM FEDECAT (Spain). Fedecat-UK has GBR teams which are wholly owned and selected by Fedecat-UK. |
Individual MembershipQ. Can anyone join Fedecat-UK?
A. Yes. Q. Why should I join? A. This Federation is run by shooters for shooters. You have to be a member if you want to shoot any of the International Competitions. Plus in the UK you get a discounted member’s only rate if you enter any of our UK competitions. You will become part of the Fedecat-UK family and encouraged to try International competitions. Q. Why do I have to be a member of Fedecat-UK in order to shoot in competitions on the CM FEDECAT International Calendar? A. All shooters wanting to compete in FEDECAT World or European Championships, or any Grand Prix’s must be a member of the shooting federation affiliated to CM FEDECAT in their home country. For the UK the only affiliated Federation to be a member of CM FEDECAT for Fan 32, Trap 5, Trap 4, and Sport Fedecat is Fedecat-UK. Q. Are you connected to any international World Bodies?
A. Fedecat-UK is connected only to CM FEDECAT the World Body based in Spain. It has no interest in being connected to any of the other World Bodies, or other UK bodies. There are several independent World Bodies such as CM FEDECAT, ISSF, ICTSF, NASSA, World Service Games which are all totally separate, they are not dependent on each other and they all have different independent disciplines and different UK member federations affiliated to them. |
Other World Federations - ICTSF, ISSF, NASSA, World Service Games.
Q. Will I be able to enter international competitions staged by other world federations if i am a member of Fedecat-UK?
A. Firstly you would have to become a member of those federations should you wish to enter their competitions as they are autonomous organisations with their own membership.
Secondly, Fedecat-UK is totally happy for its members to also be members of other world federations and enter their competitions. We want shooters to be free to enjoy all the shooting disciplines available on the various international world circuits and to be able to freely choose the disciplines that they would like to follow.
However we cannot speak for other federations and we cannot say how they will treat their members or how they will respect or value their members freedom. If you feel you may be discriminated against by any other world federation, we suggest that you contact that world federation to clarify their position, so that you can make up your own mind.
Note - We have absolutely no interest in a private company called Fitasc based in Paris. We have been aware of their well documented threatening attitude towards various great shooters of the world from several different countries, who, since 2014 have no longer wanted to enter their competitions.
Fedecat UK is an honourable sports federation and we do not agree with this embarrassing and unsporting behaviour by this private company. So please do not ask us about this private company. We are absolutely not interested.

Ground Membership |
Q. I am a ground owner. How do I become affiliated to Fedecat-UK in order to run the new FEDECAT disciplines in the UK?
A. It is very easy. Fedecat-UK wants to encourage as many shooters as possible to come and enjoy these new disciplines and therefore any ground who wants to try them out will be welcomed. There will be no charge for shooting grounds to join the Fedecat-UK family but there will be a levy for each non-member who is shooting the competitions. These levies can vary from weekly shoots to signature shoots. All grounds will need to complete the Shooting Ground application form and complete the Licence Agreement whereby they agree to abide by the Regulations and rules set out for the various disciplines. Contact us on info@fedecat-uk.com Q. As the owner of an affiliated ground do I have to be an individual member as well if I want to compete in the British or UK Open Championships or the shoots on the International Calendar? A. Yes. If you want to compete in any of the CM FEDECAT international events in any country then you will have to become a member of the UK member body which is Fedecat-UK. All international members of Fedecat-UK are treated equal. Q. Is there any ground layout criteria set out for holding Signature shoots like the British or UK Open Championships or even for holding a CM FEDECAT WCH, ECH or WC? A. Yes, the competitions are 100 targets so the minimum layouts needed for trap events are 4. For Sport Fedecat competitions at least 10 stands are needed for 100 targets. For more information contact Fedecat-UK on our Admin email info@fedecat-uk.com a meeting can then be arranged to discuss putting on any signature shoots. |
Competitions in the UK.Q. Are there any classes for these new disciplines when they are shot in the UK?
A. No we do not operate classes. These disciplines when played abroad are Scratch competitions with categories for Scratch, Ladies, Juniors, Veterans and Super Veterans. There is also no 'birds only' option. However for all standard competitions in the UK we will operate the Fedecat-UK Prize Fund System. Q. Why do you hold competitions in the UK? A. We are primarily a UK Federation for shooters who want to compete in international competitions on the world circuit. However some shooters asked if they could try the disciplines in the UK. Therefore we decided to hold a few competitions throughout the year for people to try. In the future we may consider holding a British Grand Prix if there is enough interest in any of these disciplines. Q. I am a shooter but I am not a member of any organisation in the UK. Can I come and try out these new disciplines if Fedecat-UK hold any competitions in the UK.
A. Yes, we welcome all safe shooters. You will have to abide by the Regulations set down for each discipline. You may have to give proof of your SGC to any shooting ground owner who asks for it. Trap Disciplines
Q. Is Trap 5 like UT?
A. Trap 5 is similar to UT in so far as it uses 5 traps and 10 schemes. It is also similar to OT in that it uses 24grm cartridges and each of the 5 traps throw to the same distance. It is not reinventing the wheel. Trap 5 is thrown to 65M and each trap throws to that same distance. This discipline is seen as a preparation for a transition on to OT at a later date. Internationally it is an ‘Open’ discipline (anyone can go, if they are members of Fedecat-UK) therefore you do not ‘have’ to qualify as a GBR team member in order to shoot the WCH or ECH or WC’s. This allows young shooters to ‘cut their teeth’ on the international stage and get used to the feeling of the big events. If they decide to move to OT at a later date, they will already be seasoned competitors and fearless. Q. Is Trap 3 like DTL? A. No, Trap 3 is a totally new game. It is a bridge between the slow speed discipline of DTL and the fast speed discipline OT. You shoot with 28grm cartridges and it uses the middle 3 traps from a bunker layout. Each trap throws the target to 60M. This again is an Open competition when shot internationally, so it is a great discipline to help people gain confidence of competing on the big stage. The interesting thing about this discipline is that it scores 2 points for a first barrel kill and 1 point for a second barrel kill. This is a numbers game which builds good strong shooters who are confident in their ability to achieve first barrel kills, which is an asset when they move on to OT. |
Prize Funds in the UKQ. Is there any ‘Birds Only’ option in the Fedecat-UK competitions?
A. No. We want shooters to develop the mind-set that these are scratch competitions and this is what you would encounter when competing abroad. However in the UK we will operate the Fedecat-UK prize fund system that spreads the prize fund for a competition in equal sections. This way all levels of shooters wanting to start in these disciplines will have a chance to win in a section. Fan32 and HeliceQ. Is Fan32 like Helice?
A. You should ask is Helice like Fan32 because Fan 32 is actually the original game that evolved from pigeon shooting. Its rules are still the same that they always have been except for the cartridge size which has reduced from 36grm to a maximum of 32grm. Again it is not reinventing the wheel. It still uses a propeller target and a rotating machine that throws these special targets. The main differences are in the rules of how this game is played. It is played for a large prize fund and it has an elimination factor. The targets can be various different colours and of a material that breaks well. It is much more fun than the current game of Helice (which has been watered down from the original Helice) and it is much more of a mental concentration game because of the elimination aspect. Again this is an Open competition internationally and anyone can go if they are a member of Fedecat-UK. |
Sport Fedecat

Q. Is Sport Fedecat the same as Fitasc sporting?
A. Not at all. Fitasc sporting requires a gun down hold until the bird appears.
But again we are not reinventing the wheel. Sport Fedecat uses all types of traps and all types of targets. The 'ready position' can be either with the gun mounted or in any other safe position. It throws singles, doubles on report and simultaneous doubles on a system of pegs. It can be played on trap shooting grounds or in the countryside. Again these competitions are Open events internationally and any Fedecat-UK member can enter.

GBR Teams

Q. Can I shoot for a GBR team?
A. Yes if you qualify at one of our selection shoots.
We look at selection in a different way. You do not have to travel all over the UK in all weathers to expensive selection shoots.
We want strong committed teams.
We want ‘on form’ shooters who are committed enough to travel to the international events because their first thought is that they are competing for an individual title.
We run our selection shoot out at the international event (be it a WCH or ECH) and we use the prelim competitions like the President Cup (for Fan 32) or the official practice days (for Trap 5 and Trap 3). By selecting our teams at the event and in the climate at that time, we hope to get strong focused shooters who are hungry for individual success which in turn then makes a team successful.
All details of eligibility to shoot for our GBR teams are shown on the GBR team selection and eligibility page.

Do you have a shop and can i wear your GBR kit...?

Q. Can i wear your GBR kit...?
A. Yes most definitely. We want all our shooters to be proud to wear GBR kit. All British shooters who attend the CM FEDECAT INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS are coming out to represent GBR and are therefore part of our Federation's GBR squad.
We are an inclusive Federation free of elitist attitudes and therefore all the members of the GBR squad are also free to walk behind the British Flag at any opening ceremony, should they choose to do so. They are also allowed to wear any of the branded Fedecat-UK clothing or, if they have already been a member of another GBR team (Olympic, ISSF, Bictsf etc) they are free to wear their own GBR clothing.

Shooting AbroadQ. I can shoot but I do not know anyone to travel abroad with and I am nervous of travelling the first time alone with a shotgun. Can you help?
A. Yes that is not a problem. We can provide all the information needed to get you out there and back. We are a very friendly Federation and can help walk you through what happens when you arrive. By the end of the competition I am sure that you will have made new friends from several countries for future competitions here in the UK and abroad. English is spoken at all of the shooting venues. |
Q. What paperwork do I need to take my shotgun to an overseas event?
A. For competitions anywhere in Europe you will need your SGC (Shotgun certificate) and your EFP (European Firearms Pass). The EFP is available on request and for free when you contact your licencing authority. Make sure that the shotgun you want to take with you is listed on both. If you have two sets of barrels you would be advised to ensure that they are also both listed. You may need to download the shoot invitation for certain countries. For any competitions outside of Europe all extra information will be available on our website including the shoot programme. We are here to help so if you have any questions, you can email James our Admin on this email info@fedecat-uk.com |
Airline approved gun case.

Q. Do I need a special shotgun case to travel on an airline?
A. We suggest an ABS airline approved case with at least two locks. Please do not forget to tell the airline that you are travelling with shotguns, well in advance of your travel date. (This does not apply to Easy Jet because they are notified automatically when you book your shotguns on as sports baggage on your e-ticket.)
