Contact details.Q. Have you got a telephone number.
A. No. We are an online organisation. If you need to contact us you can use the email address which is [email protected] or the Facebook page message button. Both ways will get to us in real time and will be answered during office hours. Creation of Fedecat-UKQ. Why was Fedecat-UK set up?
A. Fedecat-UK was set up by shooters for shooters. These shooters had one thing in common – they liked the disciplines that have been developed by the World Body called CM FEDECAT (Spain) and they wanted to compete internationally in these disciplines. In order to do that they were required to set up a Federation which is the sole UK affiliated member of CM FEDECAT (Spain). Fedecat-UK has GBR teams which are wholly owned and selected by Fedecat-UK. |
Individual MembershipQ. Can anyone join Fedecat-UK?
A. Yes. Q. Why do I have to be a member of Fedecat-UK in order to shoot in competitions on the CM FEDECAT International Calendar? A. All shooters wanting to compete in CM FEDECAT World or European Championships, or any Grand Prix’s must be a member of the shooting federation affiliated to CM FEDECAT in their home country. For the UK the only affiliated Federation to be a member of CM FEDECAT for Fan 32, Trap 5, Sport Fedecat and Flyers is Fedecat-UK. Q. Are you connected to any international World Bodies?
A. Fedecat-UK is connected only to CM FEDECAT the World Body based in Spain. There are several independent World Bodies such as CM FEDECAT, ISSF, ICTSF, NASSA, World Service Games. This list is not exhaustive and they are totally separate and not dependent on each other. They all have different independent disciplines and different UK member federations affiliated to them. |
Other World Federations - ICTSF, ISSF, NASSA, World Service Games.
Q. Will I be able to enter international competitions staged by other world federations if i am a member of Fedecat-UK?
A. Firstly you would have to become a member of those federations should you wish to enter their competitions as they are autonomous organisations with their own membership.
Secondly, Fedecat-UK is totally happy for its members to also be members of other world federations and enter their competitions. We want shooters to be free to enjoy all the shooting disciplines available on the various international world circuits and to be able to freely choose the disciplines that they would like to follow.
However we cannot speak for other federations and we cannot say how they will treat their members or how they will respect or value their members freedom. If you feel you may be discriminated against by any other world federation, we suggest that you contact that world federation to clarify their position, so that you can make up your own mind.

Insurance
Q. I have no insurance. Can you help?
A. Membership of Fedecat UK does not include insurance, but we can point you to various insurers who offer policies for shooters in the UK and abroad and you can then decide which gives you the best value for money. This is a growing market and there are lots of choices to tailor your insurance to what you need.

Magazines
Q. Does the membership fee include a Magazine?
A. No. This is a web based organisation for competition shooters who want to compete in specific International disciplines . We have several ways to engage with our membership.
There is news section and yearly results gallery on the Fedecat-UK website.
We have a regularly updated Facebook page where all competitions are covered in real time.
We also have great coverage in several international shooting and hunting magazines when any of our GBR shooters achieve podium places.
During these competitions we also have dedicated live WhatsApp groups to give updates of the competition timings and to make communication easy between the GB shooters there.

Trap 5
Q. Is Trap 5 like UT?
A. Trap 5 is similar to UT in so far as it uses 5 traps and 10 schemes. It is also similar to OT in that it uses 24grm cartridges and each of the 5 traps throw to the same distance. It is not reinventing the wheel.
Trap 5 is thrown to 65M and each trap throws to that same distance. This discipline is seen as a preparation for a transition on to OT at a later date. Internationally it is an ‘Open’ discipline (anyone can go, if they are members of Fedecat-UK) therefore you do not ‘have’ to qualify as a GBR team member in order to shoot the WCH or ECH or WC’s. This allows young shooters to ‘cut their teeth’ on the international stage and get used to the feeling of the big events. If they decide to move to OT at a later date, they will already be seasoned competitors and fearless.

Fan32 and Helice
Q. Is Fan32 like Helice?
A. You should ask is Helice like Fan32, because Fan 32 is actually the original game that evolved from live pigeon shooting. Its rules are still the same that they always have been except for the cartridge size which has reduced from 36grm to a maximum of 32grm.
Again it is not reinventing the wheel. It still uses a propeller target and a rotating machine that throws these special targets. The main differences are in the rules of how this game is played. It is played for a large prize fund and it has an elimination factor which makes it much more of a mental concentration game because of that aspect. The targets can be various different colours and of a material that breaks well. Again this is an Open competition internationally and anyone can go if they are a member of Fedecat-UK.

Sport Fedecat
Q. Is Sport Fedecat the same as Fitasc sporting?
A. Not at all. Fitasc sporting requires a gun down hold until the bird appears.
But again we are not reinventing the wheel. Sport Fedecat uses all types of traps and all types of targets. The 'ready position' can be either with the gun mounted or in any other safe position. It throws singles, doubles on report and simultaneous doubles on a system of pegs. It can be played on trap shooting grounds or in the countryside. Again these competitions are Open events internationally and any Fedecat-UK member can enter.

GBR Teams
Q. Can I shoot for a GBR team?
A. Yes if you qualify at one of our selection shoots.
We look at selection in a different way. You do not have to travel all over the UK in all weathers to expensive selection shoots.
We want strong committed teams.
We want ‘on form’ shooters who are committed enough to travel to the international events because their first thought is that they are competing for an individual title.
We run our selection shoot out at each of the international events (be it a WCH or ECH) and we use the prelim competitions like the President Cup (for Fan 32) or the official practice days (for Trap 5) to select. By selecting our teams at the event and in the climate at that time, we hope to get strong focused shooters who are hungry for individual success which in turn then makes a team successful.
All details of eligibility to shoot for our GBR teams are shown on the GBR team selection and eligibility page.

Do you have a shop and can i wear my GBR kit...?
Q. Can i wear GBR kit?
A. Yes most definitely. We want all our shooters to be proud to wear GBR kit. All British shooters who attend the CM FEDECAT INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS are coming out to represent GBR and are therefore part of our Federation's GBR squad.
We are an inclusive Federation free of elitist attitudes and therefore all the members of the GBR squad are also free to walk behind the British Flag at any opening ceremony, should they choose to do so. They are also allowed to wear any of the branded Fedecat-UK clothing or, if they have already been a member of another GBR team (Olympic, ISSF, etc) they are free to wear their own GBR clothing.

Shooting Abroad
Q. What paperwork do I need to take my shotgun to an overseas event?
A. You will need your SGC (Shotgun certificate), plus an invitation to the competition and your gun entry permits.
All these are arranged through Fedecat UK. You will need to fill in the relevant GDF (Gun Declaration Form) for each event and submit it with a copy of your passport and SGC. There are deadlines for submission (usually 21 days before arrival in the country). Make sure that the shotgun you want to take with you is listed on your SGC and GDF. If you have two sets of barrels you must ensure that they are also both listed.
For any competitions outside of Europe all extra information will be available on our website including the shoot programme. We are here to help so if you have any questions, you can email James our Admin on this email

Q. I can shoot but I do not know anyone to travel abroad with and I am nervous of travelling the first time alone with a shotgun. Can you help?
A. Yes that is not a problem. We can provide all the information needed to get you out there and back. We are a very friendly Federation and can help walk you through what happens when you arrive. We also have dedicated WhatsApp groups for each competition. By the end of the competition I am sure that you will have made new friends from several countries for future competitions. English is spoken at all of the shooting venues.

Airline approved gun case.
Q. Do I need a special shotgun case to travel on an airline?
A. We suggest an ABS airline approved case with at least two locks. Please do not forget to tell the airline that you are travelling with shotguns, well in advance of your travel date. (This does not apply to Easy Jet because they are notified automatically when you book your shotguns on as sports baggage on your e-ticket.)
